Engage for Success Strategy Director

engage for success

I’ve worked with the Engage for Success movement since 2012, first as a volunteer and then as a retained Consultant. I have an extremely varied remit. I manage the website and lead on digital and technology. I speak on behalf of the movement, for example at the Employee Ownership Association’s Annual Conference, co-host the live radio podcast and also support Faran Johnson, Managing Director, in developing what is largely a volunteer and secondee team.

Engage for Success is the UK’s movement for employee engagement. Initiated by the UK Government in 2011 and supported through corporate donation and sponsorship, the movement makes extensive use of social media, our website and our radio show to reach a global audience.

Jo has been responsible for our social media, radio show, newsletter and website for some years now. As a tiny, largely volunteer organisation, our focus has been to streamline and automate as much as possible. Jo has implemented systems and processes to allow us to maintain a lively, professional social media and web presence with minimum input from us.

The EFS team works virtually, and Jo is an experienced and expert remote worker – effortlessly balancing her various commitments to the extent that many of our new volunteers think she works for us full time, whereas in fact it is just one day a week. She is adept at coaching our new volunteers and secondees in the use of our internal IT, our communal social media channels and the pitfalls and opportunities of virtual working.

She has coached several of our senior sponsors on use of social media, and is readily able to communicate with all our stakeholders, from government ministers through to student placements
